Coronado is home to the United States Navy Seals - and also their training camp. Every three months a new group begins the intense, exhausting, exhilirating training course. The toughest of men endure this epic challenge...and I don’t mean actual strength. The biggest challenge is having the mental capacity (aka courage) to survive the course. You must be in a focused and strong mindset in order to accomplish this feat.
Day in and day out, the trainees are pushed to the limit, some tasks include: obstacle courses, skydiving and swimming. Sure, that seems pretty straight forward and manageable. No, wrong! They aren’t your typical swim courses or jogs along the beach. The young Seal pups [in training] are expected to jump from helicopters into the Pacific and wade in the ocean for extended periods of time, all while carrying 30+ lbs on their backs. Other tests they must endure are long runs on the beach (on the soft sand and in the dunes) for what I would imagine feels like forever. We may not know all the exact details of the Navy Seals daily training, but we just have to have confidence that this training camp is prepping our fighting men for extreme situations.
The grueling and daunting camp seems unbearable and maybe even unthinkable for the average Joe (not to be confused with G.I. Joe). But these guys - the ones who graduate, anyway - prove that being super physically fit and extremely mentally tough is an absolute must if you wish to join this Navy sector.
