Coronado Sunsets

Driving over the Coronado bridge will give you a 360 view of San Diego and a spectacular lookout point at sunset. But that only lasts a few seconds. Plus, it is challenging to drive and look at the scenery at the same time. So instead, plan ahead and get to Coronado early enough to see the sun descend. Winter is the best time to watch a sunset from the Crown City because it sets over the water.

The Crown City has several locations to offer for sunset gazers.  If you feel like treating yourself to a fancy somewhat pricey drink then head over to The Hotel Del Coronado.  Not to worry, they have beer too.  The Del has a huge deck built right on the edge of the beach - the patio includes comfy couches and fire pits.  It's no doubt a luxurious way to watch the sun set.

Or for those who would like a more affordable (and potentially romantic) setting, then pick one of the many benches or rocks that line the edge of the beach.  You can even go venture onto the beach itself, lay down a towel and have a front row view.  Either way, you can't go wrong.  As soon as the sun goes down and loses some of its strength, it's bound to get chilly. So bring a warm mug of coffee, tea or cocoa, cuddle up next to your loved ones and soak in the beautiful scenery around you.  I promise, it will not be a let down - whether cloudy or clear skies.  Make it your weekly tradition - each sunset is guaranteed to look different than the last.

I won't tease you with an overly descriptive portrayal of the pacific skies, attempting to paint a perfect picture. No, I won't do that. But what I will do instead is show you a picture.  A picture that only captures one one-thousandth of its true beauty.  These are things you need to experience in person.
