I hope I don’t offend anyone when I say this, but I never understood the phenomenon of beach volleyball. That is, until I watched the summer Olympics in London took place. I mean, I enjoy all sports. Maybe it’s better to say that I wasn’t particularly fond of beach volleyball until I watched a super competitive game. Now that I’m a fan, as well as a lot of other people, this is one of my favorite sports to watch (besides gymnastics) in the Olympics.
Since this sport has gained nationwide acknowledgement, many schools have inserted beach volleyball into their athletic teams. For a place like Coronado, it seems pretty obvious to have a team but not until a few years ago did this happen. How cool is that? So now the Coronado High School has a beach volleyball team. No fake sand on a makeshift volleyball court. Nope! The CHS Islanders practice and compete right on Coronado’s very own beach. It makes sense, right?
